Our Learning

To find out what we are learning, please see below.

Year 3 Overview

Homework

At Five Spires Academy we believe homework plays an important role in consolidation, revision and practise of skills learnt in school. It helps keep parents informed about their child’s learning and progress. Through homework, children learn independence as well as organisation skills.

Daily reading

Please encourage your child to read daily week in order to foster a love of reading. Any books, magazines, newspapers they read should be noted in the Reading Records.

Multiplication tables

As directed by their class teacher children are expected to know their year group multiplication tables and respective facts. Children need to practice at home, so they build their fluency and confidence.

Spellings

In KS2, your child will be taught and tested on a focussed spelling skill biweekly in school. A list of weekly spellings will be sent home and your child can practise these at home if they wish but this is not compulsory.

Alternate weekly Maths or English Homework

To consolidate your child's class learning, a piece of Maths or English homework will be set each week by their class teacher.

 Additional learning challenges

Each term, your child will receive optional learning challenges linked to their mini mission. If your child wishes to complete these additional pieces of homework, this will enhance their learning further.
